# Burn to Mint Feature

Our burn to mint feature is an exciting addition that allows for new tokens to be minted by burning existing NFTs from other collections or contracts. It's important to note that this feature is only available for mint pages hosted by HeyMint, and cannot be used with the mint button embed for external websites.

This feature is incredibly flexible and allows you to burn any number of NFTs from any ERC-721 or ERC-1155 contract to mint any number of NFTs from your contract. For example, you can require burning a single NFT from another contract to mint a single NFT from your contract or you can require burning multiple NFTs from different contracts to mint multiple NFTs from your contract.

Please keep in mind that users must first complete a setApprovalForAll function to authorize your NFT smart contract to transfer NFTs from the collection\[s] to be burned in order for the burn to mint feature to work.<br>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.launchpad.heymint.xyz/creators/manage-smart-contract/before-deployment/advanced-features/burn-to-mint-feature.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
